Trump Jokes About Chris Christie’s Weight at New Hampshire Rally, Urges Respectful Language

During a campaign rally in New Hampshire, former President Donald Trump lightheartedly teased Republican presidential candidate Chris Christie about his weight. Engaging in playful banter, Trump suggested that Christie was probably eating at that moment and amusingly asked his supporters to refrain from using derogatory terms.
Speaking to the crowd in Windham, New Hampshire, Trump discussed the GOP primary field and mentioned that Florida Governor Ron DeSantis seemed to be catching up to businessman Vivek Ramaswamy. When an audience member made a comment about Christie, Trump continued with his jest.
“Christie, he’s probably eating right now and can’t be bothered,” Trump quipped, eliciting laughter from the audience.
Despite the casual tone, the former President maintained a respectful demeanor. He amusingly advised an audience member not to call Christie a fat pig, emphasizing the importance of being respectful.
Trump’s playful remarks about Christie’s weight come in the wake of recent polling data showing that the former New Jersey governor and DeSantis are tied for second place among potential Republican voters in New Hampshire, each with nine percent support according to the latest NHJournal/co-efficient poll.
However, Trump maintains a significant lead with 43 percent support, giving him a substantial advantage over the other two contenders. Furthermore, a majority of New Hampshire Republicans expressed their willingness to support Trump even if he were convicted of a felony or serving time in prison.
Christie, who was previously a supporter of Trump, publicly disagreed with the former President’s claims of election rigging in the 2020 election. In a recent interview with CNN’s Christiane Amanpour, Christie stated that he distanced himself from Trump after the election and is now running in the current race to advocate for leadership that prioritizes the nation’s interests over personal agendas.
