Donald Trump and 18 Co-Defendants Face Multiple Charges in Georgia

In Fulton County, Georgia, District Attorney Fani Willis has conducted an investigation into former President Donald Trump, resulting in a grand jury returning ten indictments. The 98-page indictment contains a total of 41 charges targeting Trump and his co-defendants. Those indicted include former White House Chief of Staff Mark Meadows, former Georgia Republican Party Chairman David Shafer, and former New York City Mayor Rudy Giuliani. Other individuals involved are state Senator Shawn Still, attorneys John Eastman, Sidney Powell, Jenna Ellis, Bob Cheeley, Ray Smith III, and Kenneth Chesebro, former Assistant U.S. Attorney General Jeffrey Clark, GOP strategist Michael Roman, former Coffee County elections supervisor Misty Hampton, former Coffee County GOP chairwoman Cathy Latham, Atlanta bail bondsman Scott Hall, publicist Trevian Kutti, Illinois pastor Stephen Cliffguard Lee, and Harrison Floyd, who previously ran for a suburban Atlanta U.S. House seat and served as director of Black Voices for Trump.

The grand jury spent approximately ten hours deliberating before the charges were signed by Fulton County Superior Court Judge Robert McBurney at around 9:00 p.m. local time. The indictment focuses on alleged actions and statements made by the Trump campaign in various states to challenge the 2020 election results. While the full contents of the indictment have not been disclosed, it is worth noting that the official court website of Fulton County accidentally published what appeared to be an indictment against Trump prior to the grand jury’s official decision.

In response to the indictment, the Trump campaign issued a statement criticizing it as a partisan attempt to interfere with the 2024 presidential race. The statement also raised concerns about alleged double standards in the legal system and the perceived violation of Trump’s First Amendment rights. This indictment in Georgia adds to Trump’s ongoing legal challenges, including federal charges related to overturning the 2020 election and charges by the Manhattan District Attorney for falsifying business records.
