Call for Solidarity: Public Figures Rally for Taylor Swift to Reschedule LA Concerts in Solidarity with Hotel Workers

LOS ANGELES – A group of influential public figures, led by California Lieutenant Governor, Eleni Kounalakis, have written an open letter to Taylor Swift, urging her to consider rescheduling her Los Angeles concerts as a sign of support for striking hotel workers. The letter draws attention to the adverse financial impact of Swift’s tour on local hotels, some of which have hiked their rates considerably during her performances. While the hotels reap profits, many hardworking employees such as housekeepers are struggling to make ends meet, with some resorting to sleeping in their cars and facing the risk of homelessness.

In the letter, it is emphasized that “hotel workers are fighting for their lives” and their plea for a living wage has led to a strike. They are now appealing for Swift’s support, requesting her to stand by their cause and postpone her concerts.

With six sold-out shows scheduled at SoFi Stadium near Los Angeles, starting on Thursday, Swift’s representatives have yet to respond to the letter’s request.
