Ukraine Thwarts Alleged Russian Plot Against President Zelenskyy; Female Suspect Detained

Ukraine’s Security Service (SBU) announced the successful foiling of a recent assassination scheme targeting President Volodymyr Zelenskyy. Authorities have arrested a woman suspected of acting as a Russian informant. The SBU revealed that she was attempting to gather intelligence regarding Zelenskyy’s scheduled visit to the Mykolaiv region, with the intention of aiding Russia in carrying out a “new mass airstrike.” Ukrainian intelligence services uncovered her activities and documented her connections with Russian handlers, as well as the tasks she received.

The woman allegedly sought details about the positions of radioelectronic resistance systems and ammunition warehouses belonging to the Ukrainian armed forces in the Ochakov area. The objective was to exploit this information for a large-scale airstrike on the Mykolaiv region. If found guilty of charges related to the unauthorized dissemination of sensitive weapon movement information in Ukraine, the woman could potentially face a prison sentence of up to 12 years.

President Zelenskyy expressed his gratitude towards the SBU for their efforts in combatting traitors within Ukraine. The SBU released an image of the detained woman, who is believed to have previously worked at a military goods store in Ochakov. This incident is not the first reported attempt on Zelenskyy’s life, as he has reportedly survived three prior alleged assassination plots during the ongoing war with Russia. Russian dissidents opposed to the conflict have reportedly provided valuable intelligence regarding these planned attacks to Ukrainian government officials.
