The Ukrainian government has taken issue with recent comments suggesting that Kyiv has not shown enough gratitude for the military and financial assistance it has received from Poland in its ongoing conflict against Russia. The Polish President’s international policy chief, Marcin Przydacz, had stated that Ukraine should recognize and value Poland’s substantial support over the course of many months and years.
Ukraine did not take kindly to these remarks and promptly summoned the Polish ambassador to voice their displeasure. They vehemently stated that the comments were baseless and did not align with reality, branding them as unacceptable.
This incident is just the latest chapter in an ongoing disagreement between the two countries. Previously, the Ukrainian Prime Minister criticized Poland’s economic protection measures, which Ukraine viewed as unfriendly and populist in nature.
Furthermore, at the NATO summit in July, UK representative Ben Wallace urged Ukraine to display more gratitude towards its allies, triggering similar denials and a sarcastic response from President Zelensky.
In a related incident, the Ukrainian ambassador to London was swiftly removed from his position and ordered to return to Ukraine after making remarks that were seen as critical of President Zelensky’s leadership.
