Trump Faces New DOJ Charges for Allegedly Ordering Deletion of Surveillance Footage at Mar-a-Lago

Former President Donald Trump, along with two aides, has been accused by the Department of Justice (DOJ) of obstruction in a new set of charges. The accusations revolve around their alleged instruction to an unidentified employee to delete surveillance video footage from Trump’s Mar-a-Lago residence last year. The motive behind this instruction was purportedly to prevent the footage from being presented to a federal grand jury.

In addition to the obstruction charges, Trump now also faces a charge of willful retention of National Defense Information. This particular charge is linked to his handling of classified documents, with specific reference to an incident where Trump apparently waved a top-secret presentation in the presence of aides at his Bedminster, New Jersey resort.

Adding to the mounting legal battles, these new charges compound Trump’s current predicament, which involves a series of criminal and civil trials encompassing various periods before, during, and after his presidency.
