A former member of President Obama’s administration and a key executive in Hunter Biden’s defunct company have been discovered to have made numerous visits to the White House and the vice presidential residence between 2009 and 2016. Eric Schwerin, a close friend and long-time business partner of Hunter Biden, has come under scrutiny as the House Oversight Committee investigates Hunter’s overseas business ventures.
Contrary to previous reports, it has been uncovered that Schwerin visited the White House and the VP residence on at least 36 occasions during Joe Biden’s vice presidency. Schwerin was appointed by President Obama to the Commission for the Preservation of America’s Heritage Abroad, an independent government agency, in 2015, and was reappointed in 2017.
Emails from Hunter Biden’s correspondence have revealed that Schwerin had requested the appointment soon after the 2008 election. Concerns have been raised about Schwerin’s position as a founding partner and managing director of Rosemont Seneca Partners, Hunter Biden’s former company, as it may potentially create conflicts of interest.
The actual number of Schwerin’s visits to the White House may be larger, as certain meetings fall under the exception for “purely personal guests,” which are not required to be disclosed under the White House’s voluntary policy. Schwerin also attended various holiday receptions at the VP residence and had multiple interactions with Joe Biden, including a meeting in the West Wing.
During the course of the investigation, it has been revealed that Schwerin attended a dinner with several of Hunter Biden’s business associates, including a senior executive from Burisma, despite initial denials from the Biden campaign and the White House. Furthermore, Schwerin had meetings with several of Biden’s aides while the Obama-Biden administration was in office.
The frequency of Schwerin’s visits to the White House raises concerns about his close relationship with the Biden family and the potential influence he held over matters concerning their personal and business affairs. These new findings shed light on the intricate web of connections surrounding Hunter Biden’s business activities during his father’s tenure as vice president.
